In my house, we take baths seriously. Bathing is like an olympic event, and there is plenty of gear involved. My perfect bath requires headphones, ample reading material, and enough candles to burn the house down- and that is just for entertainment factor. The real test of a perfect bath is a carefully calculated ratio of bubbles and scented herbs. Bath bombs and soaks are both wonderful options for a relaxing, scented bath but both require clean up. When I've had a long day at work I want to skip the mess factor and prepare a bath tea.

Bath tea's are an excellent alternative for lazy people like myself. Most of these ingredients you can find in your kitchen (for spur of the moment blends), but I like to prepare a larger batch sealed in a glass jar for easy access.

This particular blend is a fall favorite of mine. It contains many autumnal herbs and spices that leave your skin soft, bright, and smelling great! Caution: this bath tea smells exactly like a cinnamon cookie. Using it may give off the impression that you've gained five pounds just from soaking in it. You're welcome.

Supplies Needed: Glass mason jar with a secure lid (optional for storage purposes)

Tea bags- Any will work but I prefer muslin bags with a drawstring. They are washable and reusable.

Crystalized ginger

Marshmallow root

Powdered slippery elm bark

Black peppercorn

Cinnamon sticks

Whole cloves

Powdered milk

Fill your tea bag about 60% with powdered milk. The milk will act as a base for your bath tea and will leave your skin feeling softer then ever. When I'm low on cash I will throw some powdered milk in the tub to feel pampered, and it gives the water an especially creamy sheen in larger doses. Add about 1/4 teaspoon of black peppercorns and whole cloves (more if you desire). Cloves are an excellent treatment for scars and acne. They also work great for revitalizing and thickening hair. Then add your powdered slippery elm bark and marshmallow root; one pinch each. The powdered elm has a fantastic campfire scent that makes this bath tea so quintessentially winter, and the marshmallow root acts as a soothing agent for your skin. Finally, break apart two small cinnamon sticks with your hands, securing your tea bag completely and shaking to blend. To use your bath tea, simply tie your tea bag to your bath facet, letting it steep throughout. Abracadabra! You're in bath heaven.
