The Celtic Cross is one of the oldest and most popular methods of reading tarot. The formation is comprised of ten cards, all symbolizing different aspects of the questioner's problem at hand. This is a great, basic tarot method that has enough cards to thoroughly elaborate on the question but not too complicated to memorize. If you are just beginning to read tarot or haven't tried this method before, I would recommend using this spread.

To begin the spread, reference our first tarot 101 post, making sure to prepare and shuffle your deck accordingly. Your deck should include a basic instruction manual if you need clarification on the shuffling process. This spread needs to be laid out in the order of the photo attached to this post, pulling from the top of your deck. Reading the cards is a crucial part of receiving or imparting guidance through divination. Follow the spread described below to help council you or the questioner in their current situation.

Tarot isn't meant to be used to solve all your problems, merely to point them out in their rawest form and to offer you suggestions for combating it. Think of your deck as your one, best friend, who always tells you the truth even when you don't want to hear it. Keep an open mind- they know whats best and deep down you know whats best. Follow your intuition.

Card 4: THE FUTURE. Upcoming events in the near future (weeks, months), if the questioner continues on their current path.

Card 5: THE CONSCIOUS. This card reflects the questioner's goals and aspirations.

Card 6: THE SUBCONSCIOUS. Symbolizes underlying feelings and elves deeper into the core of the situation.

Card 7: THE ADVICE. Presents a recommendation for the questioner's current situation.

Card 8: THE EXTERNAL INFLUENCES. This card analyzes people, energy, or events that are affecting the questioner and the situation at hand.

Card 9: THE HOPES/FEARS. This card highlights the questioner's hopes and fears, their fears usually being negative.

Card 10: THE OUTCOME. This card represents the outcome of the questioner's situation based on the questioner following their current path.
