Natasha Khan (Bat for Lashes) has long been the reciprocal of our affections at The Good Spell Book. My first winter in Seattle, Savannah and I would listen to her albums on repeat- her music becoming an anthem for our friendship and our mutual interest in the occult. A year later we had the privilege of seeing her on her Haunted Man tour in Portland, Oregon. With lanterns scattered across the stage, Natasha shared with us songs from her most personal album to date.

Her latest project Body of Songs, is a collaboration with some of Britian's most talented musicians including Goldie and Ghostpoet. Each artist explores an organ of the human anatomy, aiming to create a link between our understanding of our physical and emotional selves. While the full album is set to release later this year, Natasha's song has been released as a speculative to the project.

She has a skill for creating songs which impart a heavy sense of gloom and hopefulness. "Skin Song" carries this theme; using the epidermis as an analogy for the our past regrets and our ability to grow as individuals. This verse accurately illustrates the message of "Skin Song:"

"The skin that I live in is cool and paper thin, it's got a swan song to sing. I've blushed and I have bruised, felt the passing of youth. I've bleed and I've healed. Held babes in my arms, counted lovers, counted scars..."

LISTEN TO SKIN SONG HERE and let us know what you think of it in the comments section below.
